A Book on the Registry...
Posted by mikey b from sd on December 23rd, 2005

anyway, my youngster got a virus in an AIM message, but luckily my NAV was up
to date and trapped, then deleted it.. But for jokes, i went through Norton
removal instructions and looked thru the registry for this virus's key Oops,
the virus was w32.spybot.worm, and the info is here:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com...ybot.worm.html

I'm interested in buying a book on the registry and it's cool if it's
complicated or whatever. I'd like to know for example, in the reg key:

HKEY_LOCAL_NACHINE\SYSTEM\currentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa

in the right pane is:

"restrictanonymous" = "1"

I'd like to know what restrictanonymous means because in the NAV removal
instructions it sez to reset the original value if known.. (mine is set to
0x00000000)

Thanks!!!

Google.
(Cheaper than a book - more up to date!)

For example:

Another good place for general Registry tweaks..

That's for Win2K server Bob, a great link but it may not all apply to XP.

Yes that is exactly where you are referred to if you go into "editing
the registry" in the XP documentation.
