- Briefcase Synching -- can only update "one way"
- Posted by WWgeekwannabe on November 17th, 2007
I have setup Briefcase to synchronize folders between a desktop and laptop PC
via my home network. My question is, should I be able to update the
briefcase folders from either the desktop or laptop?
Right now I am only able to update briefcase at the desktop (which is where
I created the briefcase). If I attempt to update from the laptop I get an
error essage saying "[foldername]" has a sync copy that is inaccessible.
This folder will not be updated untiil the sync copy is accesible from this
computer".
I verified that I can access, update and save desktop files from my laptop.
Any ideas on what I've done wrong, or is Briefcase updating a one-way only
activity? Thanks for any help.

You cannot update the briefcase on the desktop from the laptop - you must
put the files in the laptop briefcase - update them - and return them to the
desktop briefcase at which point the files will be update.
In other words, you carry your briefcase from office (Desktop) to office
(Laptop) and vice-versa. Except in this case via a network.
