- Broken System Restore wizard?
- Posted by toby.borgeest@gmail.com on February 8th, 2006
OS: Windows XP Professional, SP2
I want to make use of the System Restore capability. I got into the
wizard which first asks whether I want to 'restore my computer to an
earlier time'. Yes please.
Next window displays a calander (month-display) on the left, and a list
of today's restore points on the right.
I don't want any of today's restore points.
The calandar doesn't seem to have any dates 'bolded' (the signal
indicating that that day contains restore points), and in any event I
want to look for a restore point earlier than this month.
There is a back arrow to turn the calander back one month.
The back arrow doesn't do anything, except change colour to indicate
that it knows I have been clicking on it. I keep trying. I close the
system down and restart. Still no good.
For whaever reason, I seem to have a broken wizard. Is there some other
way that I can manipulate the System Restore utility (specifically, can
I use some other method to find and restore to some earlier restore
point)?

Try from Safe Mode Command Prompt. Note that certain anti-virus programs can
agressively block scripts running in local computer.
