I think this may be an easy question...I feel like an idiot because I cannot
figure this one out!!

When I open a window/folder on my desktop, I would like to have the back
browser button displayed at the top of the window. I currently do not have
that and cannot figure how to get it there. All I have at the top of the
folder is the name, then on the left side there is: file and folder tasks;
other places; and details. to move backwards thru a series of folders, I
have to keep clicking in other places for the last folder.

Clear as mud?

R-click the "menu area" and put a check next to "standard buttons"

That's OK. From an Explorer window (like My Computer), View>Toolbars>
left-click on Standard Buttons. If you don't want the Common Tasks
showing on the left side of the window, go to the System applet in
Control Panel, click on Advanced tab, then the button for Settings
under Performance and uncheck "Common Tasks in folders". Apply and OK
out.

nothing happens when I right click in the Menu area....by the way...I have no
menu across the top, just the name of the folder.

Thanks Bob.....
that is awesome...
Now to be a real pain, how do I get it to stay? All buttons are checked,
and when I hit F11 it comes up, but when I close out of the folder and go
back in, it is gone again.

Not sure what the issue is but "how" are you "going back in"? Whatever
is causing this has the folder set to "kiosk mode". If you are using a
"shortcut" please replace it by creating a new one.

Some of the folders are shortcuts....however, the problem exists on ALL
folders. Ones that are shortcuts and ones that arent.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas. Perhaps someone else has an idea of what has
forced the "kiosk" mode.
