- Can I share a webcam direct over the internet?

Have a broadband connection and other party does too. What would be the
easiest way to share the feed from the webcam to them?

How do you connect to the broadband connection? If you are using a router,
you will need to do "port-forwarding" of the IP ports (1 to ????) based on
the required ports for the web-cam program(s).

ADSL modem - not permanent IP address, but persists for days/weeks which I
don't mind communicating to other part as needed.

Have you tried MSN messenger?

Yes - but I want to leave the connection open 24/7.

The best way I have found is via MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger. I
tried about 10 apps to stream to a site, tried streaming locally and
opening port 80 on my router, but Messenger did it best.

From the Messenger NG - my prefered solution
Quote -
Jonathan - that's exactly what I wanted - thanks very much.
I have experimented broadcasting via a free port and watching/listening
myself over the ip feed. Great thing is so long as I supply the other party
with the ip address the WME advises then they can just "tune-in" by opening
that URL in their WMP.
Thanks again (unfortunately quite a few experts of various NG's told me it
was impossible ;-)
I'll copy this reply to those threads.
Always impressed by you Jonathan (one of the top MVP's)
