- Can not open a shared network folder on a network computer

Hello;
I two networked XP Home machines with a Net Gear router. Up until 2 weeks
ago, I could open all shared folders on the remote networked machine. Now
when I use Windows Explorer to access the remote machine, there are some
folders that the hour glass remains on for ever and the folder never opens.
When I look in Task Manager (Alt Ctrl Del) it says Not Responding.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be? Thanks - have a great week!
