Can a virus unhide or write to or read a hidden drive/partition? Can a virus
write to a read-only file?

If it can be done programmatically - then a virus can be programmed to do
it.

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.
microsoft.public.security.virus
alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus
Any software, malware or not, can change file or folder attributes if it is programmed to do
so. This include a file who's attribute is set to Read-Only.
