- Cannot boot -always goes to safe mode menu
- Posted by dencck on October 6th, 2005
I made a mistake by clicking one of the pop up and upon reboot, it always
goes to safe mode menu. I have it scan using my friend's pc using NAV2005
(latest update and delete virus like Adware.MediaPass. etc. )
And whatever option I choose they will just show the xp logo and back to
safe mode menu,
How can I get back to normal working condition. The pc was protected with
AVG. Please assist, thanks

Read this page for the various ways of recovering XP:
http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/RecoveringXP.htm
Try the Last Known Good Configuration first, System Restore, next, etc.
If you can't recove the system by using one of those methods, try using the
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in Safe Mode to save files and settings
and then reformat your C: drive (and all of the other drives if you had a
virus) and reinstall XP. You can then reinstall the files and settings you
saved.
See this page on how to use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard:

Hello , Yes , Yosemite Sam hit it right . Start PC / imediately tap the one
f8 key tap f8 key til you see a screen which will give you options / default
selected is "Safe Mode" I Think / Read carefuly / You will see for yourself
.. There is only 1 Safe mode to choose except for the safe mode with
networking .. not neccessary to choose that . I hve a wireless network and
never select ,safe mode functions just fine / NOw , desktop will appear with
black bakground and the "desktops" will be in a different order / You will
see "Start" same locale .
