- Cannot click on link
- Posted by livingword26 on October 16th, 2005
I have never had any problems with this before, but all of a sudden, if
I click on a link in my email or other program, it will not launch the
browser. I have tried setting everything to default I can find, but
nothing helps, System restore doesn't help either. It has been a while
since I tried it, but I know I have done this before. Any suggestions?

hi,
click start, select run and type
Close all open windows of IE before you do this..
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
Click Ok..
This should do the trick.

I ran both of these commands and got positive confirmations on them,
but the problems remain. Any other suggestions?

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm
Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.
"Application used to perform this action" should read:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)
DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:
#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)
#4
WWW_OpenURL
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.
Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.
If that doesn't fix it, go to Start | Run and type
regsvr32 urlmon.dll

I went back to folder options later, and the edit button worked.
Everything was just as it should be. I opened an email and tried to
click on a link and it worked. I don't know what happened in the last
hour, but something fixed it. thanks for all the input.
