- cannot delete .wav or mp3 files in windows explorer
- Posted by SL on April 26th, 2006
In Windows Explorer, when I right click on any file with the .wav or .mp3
extension to delete it, Explorer locks up, requests that I send an error
report, and then closes Explorer. You can double click the file and play it
just fine, but you cannot delete it.
The only way for me to delete these files is to drag them to the Norton
recycle bin.
I am running XP Pro.
Any ideas????
Thanks in advance.........

Hi,
You probably have a problem with a context menu entry, see:

Rick,
Thanks. I just had to go in my registry and add an HP shell extension
because of problems from the MS06-015 security update. In the MS article
about the problems associated with this update, it also mentions a shell
extension problem with Nvidia. I'm wondering if I need to enter the Nvidia
shell extensions and if that is the cause of the problem with the .wav/.mp3
deletions.

Hi,
It's possible, but I would concentrate on the context menu entries first.
