Cannot install Service Pack 2
Posted by John King on April 22nd, 2006

Following on to my plea at 17.32. I have tried to install Service Pack 2.
It starts OK. "The updates are being installed"
"Initialising Installation done"
"Installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 (update 1 of 1)"
The bar indicating progress goes just over the halfway mark. I then get a
window "Service pack 2 Setup Error"
Another small window with a white cross on a red background says "Access is
Denied"

on OK ing, it says Service Pack 2 installation did not complete. Select OK
to undo the changes that have been made.
I then get a removal wizard and at the end "Service Pack 2 installation did
not complete. Windows XP has been partially updated and may not work
properly"

I'm now at a loss to know how to continue.
Do we have a human wizard that can throw light on the problem please?
