Cannot Join to Domain
Posted by RajBhl on December 13th, 2007

Hi,
I have a Xp Prof m/c. I am unable to join to domain as the "Member of :
Workgroup / domain" part in Computer Name Change box remains greyed out even
though I am logged on as local admin.

Any ideas / suggestions as to why this is greyed out?

Thanks & Regards.

If by "Xp Prof m/c" you mean that you have a the Media Center Edition
of WinXP, then what your seeing is perfectly normal. WinXP Media Center
Edition is a _superset_ (iow, it does _everything_ WinXP Pro can do
(except join a domain), plus contains additional multi-media features)
of WinXP Pro.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the reply. This is not a XP-Med cen Ed.. I have used the same
installation in a prev. m/c and it was working ok. (ie. could join to
domain).
