I'm getting the following error for all users:

Cannot load user profile because it is being used by another process.

The computer then becomes very very very slow. What can I do?

Thanks Carey,

Actually the error message is not that "it may be corrupted" but that
"another processor is using it".

I've tried to follow that thread but when I create a new user it is still
very slow. At first a small window titled "Personalized Settings" appears
with the message "Setting up Personalized settings for: Internet Explorer 6",
and this stays there for about 5mins, then the desktop takes very very long
to appear for the new user.

but it still hangs up.

My computer is clean (it's got updated F-Secure)
It is not slow in safe mode - I created a new user in that mode, but when I
