Cannot log on to user profile
Posted by Bob Green on January 1st, 2006

My pc boots up (laptop) and gets to the user log in. When i enter the
password the screen says it is loading, but then stops. I cannot access
anywhere on my pc. Any ideas how i can log on without inserting recovery
disks and starting from scratch? I recently downloaded the panda antivirus
and thats when the problems started. Got too much data on hardrive to lose
it.

Thanks

Hi Bob,

Boot to Safe mode with Command prompt, logon as administrator. Do this by
hitting F8 as Windows first begins to load, immediately after the BIOS POST
screen. From the prompt, there are a couple of things you can try:

a) Run "control appwiz.cpl" to open the Add/Remove dialog where you can
uninstall PandaAV and hopefully undo the damage.

b) Run C:\Windows\System32\Restore\rstrui.exe to open the System Restore
Dialog and go back to a point before the installation.
