Cannot see 'open and repair' option in windows explorer
Posted by Nanny on June 19th, 2008

Hi

PC model HP compaq DC7700sff, 1GB RAM, 2.0Ghz CPU, 40GB HDD

I am using windows XP pro SP2. I have a problem in that when I attempt to
run'open and repair' on a word document the option is not listed in the drop
down box. The other features "open as read only, and open as copy" are there.

I imagine its a windows explorer issue.

If anyone has a quick fix or any suggestions I would be grateful.

I plan to do a repair XP install at a later date and maybe run SFC/Scannow
with a copy of XP sp2.

Cheers

What makes you think there should be such an option?

Try it yourself, its well documented by microsoft. Its a tool built into
windows explorer to aid document or spreadsheet recovery. I have a whole
department of PCs which have the feature available when i open a document and
try and use the tool.

This is not to be confused with microsoft office's 'detect and repair'.
