Cannot uninstall Symantec Corporate Antivirus 9.0 on workstation
Posted by mmurdock@gmail.com on December 12th, 2005

I am trying to get Symantec Corporate Antivirus 9.0 removed from a
workstation so that I can upgrade it to 10.0. I have followed the
manual removal instructions as posted on the Symantec website and I am
still having problems. The problem that I am running into is that
every time I right click on any object on the desktop, like "My
Computer" or "Internet Explorer", Symantec Antivirus tries to
reinstall. When I use the CD to try and uninstall SAV it will ask for
Disk 1. I have also tried to all the SAV removal tools that are also
posted on the Symantec website. Still, no luck. Any suggestions?

Contact Symantec tech support, and they will send you a utility that will
remove all traces of Symantec products from the workstation.

I thought you just install version 10 and it will take care of previous
versions. I have done it and so should you unless british versions of
symantec products are different from rest of the world.

hth
ps: I can assure you that UK is still the safest place to visit despite
yesterdays explosions at a fuel depot.

I too heard it in Central London at about 06:00 hrs in the morning.

I have tried to install V 10 over 9.0 but with no luck. For whatever
reason SAV 10 just does not want to go on the workstation. I will try
the above suggestions today.
