Can't access web sites even though DNS is ok
Posted by David Wood on October 16th, 2005

My pc has been crashing with BSOD - I couldn't track down what device was
the problem. I removed SP2 from XP - then reinstalled SP2 and now the
system is stable, no blue screen. HOWEVER every web page I access gives
'page not found' I can ping bt.yahoo.com but no web page however I can't
ping sites like www.microsoft.com
Outlook Express will download email from Hotmail!

Anyone any ideas?

start>run
type in
netsh winsock reset
reboot

Here are three things to try...

1. IE may have gone stupid, try a diffrent web browser.
2. Flush the DNS do this by ipconfig /flushdns
3. What happens when you try to open 66.249.93.104 (this is
www.google.co.uk’s IP address).
