- cant burn cd's

when i insert a cd, and go to my computer the drive is not reading the disc!
when i try to burn cd's i get the message please insert a blank disc!
ive tried on both nero and windows media player and yet i get the same
response?

What version of Nero and Windows Media do you have? Do you have SP2?

Try cleaning it. If that doesn't work start looking at replacing it.

Sharpy,
Go to Device Manager, right-click & uninstall your driver under the
'DVD/CD-ROM drive' heading. Then reboot. If this doesn't work try using a
different brand CD, or are you saying no CD with data can be read?

i have nero 7 and the latest windows media player with the windows sp2!
