Cant click on links within web pages
Posted by Rebecca on February 5th, 2006

Hi there,
When i am viewing webpages, and try to click on links within, sometimes it
works, and redirects me to where i want to go, most of the time i hear a drip
sound and it doesnt do anything. Are my settings wrong, and if so how can i
fix them?

Thanks
Rebecca

if you hear a drip sound, look at your window
& within it there is an off yellow frame that
says something about: allow content to be
blocked. click on it & it will give you a
few options & then click on the one you want.

the reason for that is because of security &
viruses that come from the internet & will
attatch themselves to your computer.

Is it possible it has to do with IE's security settings?
When you click a link do you get a yellow drop-down bar just below your
toolbars?
If so, click on the bar for options to either allow/deny what is being
blocked.

It's a popup blocker - either the built-in one in WinXP SP2 or in a toolbar
you've installed (google, yahoo, AIM, etc).

The SP2 popup blocker can be managed in tools | popup blocker in IE

Pick only one popup blocker - I personally prefer the Google toolbar one.

If you want to temporarily allow the popup, hold the CTRL key while clicking
on the link in the web page - if you want to disable popup blocking for a
specific site, you can also do that.

I don't recommend disabling all popup blockers outright.

Hi Brian
Thanks for your response, but unfortunately that does not solve my problem.
I am aware of the pop-up tool bar, but this isnt the case, it doesnt come up
when this happens. thanks for the input.
