- Can't Delete File
- Posted by Eric on March 23rd, 2006
I need some help, I have a file on my system that I cannot delete and almost
any program which tries to access this file stops working (Windows Explorer,
Adaware, Norton Virus Scan) the only exception I have found is Windows Media
player. I don’t get any error messages when the programs stop working the
just get hung and I have to kill them with the task manager.
I have gone into command prompt, booted from a DOS boot disk and still can’t
delete this file. Funny thing with the boot disk though, I’m running XP Pro,
but when I use the create a DOS boot disk routine; the boot disk ends up
being ME which was my original OS. It won’t drag an drop into the recycle bin
either.
The filename is “c:\documents and settings\chris\my documents\ares lite
edition”
At a loss and don’t know where to go from here, any help would be appreciated.

Carey,
Played around with unblocker somemore, when I tried a right click delete
using unblocker on the folder, under my sons user id that created the folder
it wouldn't allow me to delete the file, but gave me an option to delete it a
next reboot.
I accepted and rebooted the system and finally the file is gone and I have
verified all my programs are working again.
Many thanks for yuor help...
