- Can't delete file in Windows XP Pro cd writing staging area
- Posted by svsasson on September 30th, 2005
When I try to delete the remaining file in the Windows XP Pro CD writing
staging area I get the following message: "Cannot delete file: The file
name you specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different file
name." Trouble is Windows won't let me rename the file. How can I delete
it?

Try L.clicking the file,move this file,then edit.

Thanks, but I cannot perform any operations on this file. I'd try to delete
it in safe mode, but I cannot find it listed in Windows Explorer. I've
unchecked "hide" files, looked in the place where the staging area is
supposed to be--nothing listed. I've run checkdisk, System Suite's registry
fix, defrag. Nothing helps--the file is still listed when I click the cd
drive in Explorer.
