Can't download files
Posted by Jim on June 14th, 2008

I have a problem that is driving me crazy!

I have not been able to view videos on the net, nor download any files.
When I try to download files, I get a message similar to the below:

Not being able to download files started when, for whatever reason, I could
not view videos. In trying to fix the problem, I followed all the suggested
steps from Microsoft and Adobe relative to de-installing and re-installing
the flash player. I have even used 'subinacl' with reset_minimal.cmd from
Adobe.

The only solution I have found was to create another account with
'Administrator' privilege (which I had before). This worked for ONE day.
Now, I am back to not being able to download files nor view videos.

I can log into the Administrator account and everything works correctly. I
can even run IE as 'Administrator' and everything is OK, but I have the
problem whenever I just run using my account as the default.

Can someone please give an explanation or fix for the behavior that does not
include any of the fixes that have been mentioned.

System:

XP Pro SP2 Up-to-date

IE7

Adobe Flash Player Ver. 9.0.124.0

ZoneAlarm Anti-Virus

SpyBot Search & Destroy

A reply is greatly appreciated!
