Can't install Windows programs
Posted by hrodkin on November 13th, 2005

A couple of days ago windows update stalled during installation. I shut down
the computer and ever since I have not been able to install updates or other
microsoft programs (I have not tried any 3rd party programs). The
installation starts and then freezes half way.
Help and thanks,

if so you can restore your computer to before you applied the failed
patch/security update.

Sean,
I do have system restore on and Norton Go Back. System restore only gives me
today and October and even October 31 doesn't work at all. It stalls just
like trying to install just about anything.I went back as far as I could in
Norton, but it wasn't far enough.
Thanks for the reply. Any more ideas?

Sean,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but i've been on the phone with
microsoft all afternoon and no solution. The problem is thatnwhen i try to
install Microsoft updates thy download but just hang up on the installation.
I did get a delayed installtion on Frontpage. It hung up, i closed out of the
installation and then a while later i found that the program eventually
installed. i also had no problem at all installing an Adobe program, But I
can't even install the updated installer or install cleanup program.
Thanks for any help.
