- Can't Log Off or Shut Down!

I am finding that I must log off or select shut down twice before computer
will do the action. When I do it the first time, it bleeps at me and then
acts normal. I then shut down or log off a second time and the puter
performs the desired action. Any ideas what is the cause of this? I also
sometimes get a .dll error for a Probedis.exe (something to do with my modem).

Is it a USB modem? If so try unplugging it and then shutting down. That
would imply a problem with your modem

Not a usb modem. Did find today that I had a modem driver problem and
reinstalled the drivers. BUT, problem is not limited to modem, was using DSL
at the time. Also have problem when not connected to internet or dialed in.
