Clearing temp files for all users at the same time
Posted by kjfrey55 on April 13th, 2006

Is there a way to clear temp files, Internet temp files, cookies, etc. in one
sweep? I have my wife and three kids plus myself, all with our own User
ID's. I'd like to be able to do the equivalent of a Disk Cleanup for all
users at the same time without having to do it for each individual user.

If you're an admin, I thought Disk Cleanup would work for all users.
Well, if it doesn't, you could always use some cleaning software. Windows
Washer ($) and CCleaner (free) work good, though I don't know if they'd work
on all users at once. Worth a try though.

I'm in as an admin and also tried CCleaner to no avail.

Actually you can use CCleaner, AFAIK.

Go to Options in the left panel in CCleaner. Then select Custom. Then select
Add Folder from the right panel to add the Temp, Cookies and any other
folders you want to clean from any other user.

You need to make sure that any other user's folder or folders selected for
cleaning can be accessed in full by the Administrator.

I would simply use the administrator account, and write a .bat file that
goes thru and deletes each of the user's various "temp/junk" folders.
pretty easy...

What does a .bat file do?
