Hello I have winows xp and I want to find out what is using com4 on my laptop
there used to be a way to list the comports in 98 but I can't find it in xp
and if possible I would like to change the user from com4 to com5 if possible.

Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager. Look under Ports,
COM and LPT.
Right-click on the port and choose Properties. Then choose the Port
Settings tab and the Advanced button, and in the lower left you can (maybe)
change the port number.
If this is a modem or blackberry or something, you may need to change the
setting elsewhere, like in the modem software.
