Command for "Switch User" or "log Off"???
Posted by jdayteg@hotmail.com on November 8th, 2005

Hi,
I am on Win XP and would like to create a shortcut on my desktop
enabling me to "log out" or to switch user instead of going to
"Start>Log Out>log out or switch user". I know that it is possible to
create a shortcut to shutdown the PC, or restart it, but I didn't find
anything on the switch/log out modus.
Can someone help me out?

Thanks in advance,
Jojo

Thanks TBSJ.

The thing is that I actually need to switch user or to log off, since I
knew already about C:\windows\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00
But I would like to have a "code" for switching and log off, and I
can't manage to find an answer... :-(

Please help!

Jojo

You are welcome.

I don't quite understand your reply. But I can see it is very "profound", so
hope those MVPs could help you.

If you want them combined, drop me a note via private e-mail. I can create
a toggle switch script for you.

For anyone else wanting the Switch User shortcut:

You can either use the Windows key + Q via line 34 (right hand side):
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

or add this location line to a new shortcut: rundll32.exe
user32.dll,LockWorkStation
