- computer locks up during video capturing in movie maker

While using windows movie maker to capture videos from my camera through a
video capture card, it will start to work but then after a short time the
computer locks up and i have to restart. any thoughts?

Assuming that you have adequate cpu speed, adequate RAM, and adequate hard
drive partition formatted space, and swapfile is set to default.
Turn off any startup items in msconfig, and reboot.
