DCOM error
Posted by Fritz on December 5th, 2005

I'm getting the following error in the Event Log:

"The machine wide Default Launch and Activation security descriptor is
invalid. It contains Access Control Entries with permissions that are
invalid. The requested action was therefore not performed. This security
permission can be corrected using the Component Services administrative
tool."

Where did it come from and how do I fix it?
Users are reporting problems mapping to file shares on that system.

Thanks in advance.

To access Launch and Activation Permissions, run dcomcnfg > Component
Services >Computers >Right Click My Computer >Properties > COM Security tab.
