Default password for RC

Just F11'd an IBM X30 laptop computer. It's now restored to the factory
contents. I am trying to get into the recovery console. Hit enter for the
admin password however it says it's incorrect. I did not set a password.

What is the default?

Hi,

You can reset the local Administrator password with one of the methods
mentioned here (you may need to create the boot cd/floppy on another
computer):

http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_admini...r_password.htm

e.g. this one:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

What I dont understand is that there has been no password set-up on the
administrator account. As I mentioned the computer is a fresh install. (XP
Pro)

I have just tried accessing the recovery console on my own PC (XP SP2). I
have a local administrator account, and set the password. Then inserted a XP
pro disk, booted to the disk, chose r for recovery console with hd 1. then
when prompted to enter the password type it in as I had just set it.
Received error password not valid??
