- default profile
- Posted by Tester on November 23rd, 2007
Hi there,
Can I delete the default profile on my XP machine, will it get
recreated?
I am experiencing a problem with IE-logging to a web page, already did
sfc /scannow and repair, still problem persists.
Thanks a lot, T

Also if all profiles seem corrupt including default profile, can I
just copy a default profile from anothe XP machine after renaming/
deleting default profile? Thanks, T

Are you actually logging in as "default" or are you looking at the folders
in Documents and Settings?
Those "default" folders are a template, not really an actually account.
They are used in creating new accounts.
If you can delete them, there isn't a good reason to.
the default profile folders will have nothing to do with this.
You apparently have a malware infection and should locate the redirectors.

What makes you think they are corrupt?
No. This will not work. You would have to create a new profile.
Would suggest that you go to Safe Mode or attach the drive to another
system, and clean out malware starting there.
