Two questions:

1. What is the default system cache size in Windows XP?

2. Where can I read general information about how Windows allocates memory
between applications and the system cache?

Hi,

I am not sure if you mention the virtual memory allocated by windows XP. If
this is what you are asking, here are the steps:

Please perform the following steps.

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer.
3. Click Properties.
4. Select Advanced tab.
5. Click Settings button under Performance.
6. Select Advanced tab.
7. Click Change under Virtual Memory.

The safe zone is you may alter the size: Minimum 2 times of the installed
RAM (memory) to maximum limit of 4 times of the installed RAM (memory)

No, that wasn't exactly my question. I'm talking about the "system cache"
number that shows up under the Performance tab in Task Manager. There is
apparently a default system size cache number. I'm trying to discover what
it is.
