Defragmenter not working
Posted by Avi on December 23rd, 2005

Every time I open defragmenter in XP (Home) 1) It takes very long for the
window to show. 2) It keeps showing the hour glass and will not let me click
on any of the buttons. 3) Finally when the cursor does show and I click on
the Analyze button it shows a message "NOT RESPONDING" and I have to close it
using the ctrl, alt.delete keys.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks

Boot into Safe Mode and run Defrag with no other programs running.

Thanks for the response. I was able to register the two defragmenter
components following the directions in the website you gave me. However, it
took nearly 55 hours to defragment Drive C on my computer. Is that normal?
Now when I click the button to show details of files that did not
defragment the dialog box just freezes and gives the message not responding.
How can I find out which files have not defragmented and try to defragment
them?
