- Deleted files/folders keep showing up
- Posted by Nebulus on March 30th, 2006
Ok, I've recently run into a problem where several files and folders
that i've deleted are still showing up. I had some text files on the
desktop, and a couple folders in my MP3 directory that I deleted.
However, whenever I restart the machine, *poof*, the fiels are there
again! I even used SpyBot's secure file shredder, and the files STILL
show up. A quick search through the registry doesn't turn up anything.
Can somebody explain why the files aren't actually deleted, and more
importantly how to nuke those files permanently? Thanks for any help.

Are you on a network with roaming profile?

Bob I is spot on I'm guessing. Deleting those files from the server copy of
your roaming profile would keep them from coming back.

I thought of that. I actually turned roaming profile off, so are you
saying I'll have to dig through my data and nuke those files as well?

Depends on which files. ie. its often common for trojans/spyware/viruese
to recreate files you delete on the next bootup.
