How can I install new software/create desktop icons on this Winxp so it's
only on my desktop and not on my wife's user account?

The date and time was 2/6/2008 10:00 PM, and on a whim, Steve pounded
out on the keyboard:
Hi Steve,
If a program icon is seen on all accounts, the program installer placed
everything into the All Users profile. So launch Explorer and Navigate
to the All Users Profile and the Desktop folder within that profile.
Move what icons you want into your own profile Desktop folder and they
will no longer show up in your wife's profile.

If they're installed into All Users and deleted, it will remove them
from everyone's view.
