Desktop icon transparency problem
Posted by ADEUS on March 23rd, 2006

I am having the same problem as some other users - namely that my desktop
icons are no longer transparent. I have already tried the drop shadow method
as well as the lock web items method. No avail. I even read somewhere that
transparency only works with .bmp backgrounds, but this isn't true, because I
still have no transparency with a .bmp image.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? Detailed instructions appreciated!
Thanks!

Try unchecking all the web items in

Right-click desktop > Properties > Desktop (tab) > Customize Desktop.. > Web
(tab) > (Uncheck items)

Believe or not, my 'drop shadow' method works backwards. In other words, I
must enable (check) drop shadows to get them to turn off.
