Hi, how can I stop my desk top icons moving around? Every time I start
up they are in different places. Many thanks for any help. I am a
novice user, so please dont get to technical.

Hello Delfina,

When viewing your desktop, select an unused portion of it, using your mouse do a RIGHT click.
Next, highlight (move your mouse pointer over) "Arrange icons by".
Move your mouse pointer over (highlight) "Lock web items on desktop".
Then do a LEFT click.

Run the edit on Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 188: Add Save & Restore Desktop Layout to Menu

This will create two right click context menu entries - meaning when you
right click on a blank area of the desktop two new entries will appear
in that list, "Save Desktop Icon Layout" and "Restore Desktop Icon
Layout". Arrange the icons as you want, the right click a blank area of
the desktop and chose the "Save Desktop..." option. Then if you reboot
and things are moved do the same but choose "Restore Desktop...".

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.

Hi, place the icons where you want them and then right-click the desktop, put
the cursor over "Arrange icons by" and select "Lock the desktop".
