My desktop is acting like a folder. This is driving me crazy how to I get it
to go back to a normal desktop? to one side it has folder options,other
places and details. PLEASE HELP!

IMO, you haven't described the situation very well.

But it looks as if Windows Explorer is opening instead of the desktop.

Read this PDF document that show you how Windows can be set to open Windows
Explorer and see this is the case on your PC.
