- Desktop shortcut for Windows Media Player 11
- Posted by Ron Hirsch on December 8th, 2007
I've searched high and low in Google and the MS knowledge Base, but cannot
find a way to create a desktop shortcut for Windows Media Player 11.
This is of course not a "calamity", just a minor inconvenience. I used a
workaround and generated a shortcut for a WMA file. Double clicking on it
opens Media Player 11, and starts playing the song, which I can then stop to
do whatever I want to do in WMP 11.
But I see no path in XP Pro, fully updated and patched, to create a "normal"
desktop icon for WMP 11.
Does anyone know the path to do this??

My Computer\C\Program Files\Windows Media Player.
Locate wmplayer, right-click, select 'Create shortcut',
drag to desktop, or cut and paste onto desktop.

Hi George,
I didn't realize the WMP was prominently visible in the listing under
Program Files. I somehow got an erroneous impression that MS had secreted it
away somewhere. <G>
Once you reminded me that it is clearly there (I should have looked
earlier), creating the shortcut was of course no problem.
Thanks for your prompt reply. :-)
