- Desktop toolbar: Get rid of "Desktop"

Is it possible to get rid of the word "Desktop" in the
Desktop toolbar? It needlessly occupies a chunk of very
valuable territory where it currently is.

Right click it when toolbars are unlocked and choose Show Title.
