Did a stupid thing? sold mac for windows
Posted by Frank on March 15th, 2006

Hello,

Did I make a mistake selling my mac pb for a windows laptop?
I just did not see using mac to browse the internet when most of my software
is windows based.

I took a loss, but nw have sony viao.

I feel stupid...

Thanks

Frank

No, once you realize the mac pb was obsolete, you'll feel a lot smarter.

Hi Bob,

do you mean because of Apples Intel deal?

than their Windows counterparts. I remember a Mac user back in the 80's
telling me a Mac wasn't expensive. Turns out he was getting an
educational discount of 50% on his purchase -- not sure Apple does that
anymore.

I got bored with the mac, all I could do was surf the web.
I use Money 2006 and did not like any finance program on the mac.
For programming, Visual Studio 2005 Express is great.
The only think I liked on the mac was streaming music to my stereo from
itunes.
I now have windows media center, but have yet to discover what I can do with
it.

Yes, better someone else ends up holding it than you, especially since
you weren't getting any real use out of it.

Hey Frank
Your Apple thingy would have depreciated to the point
where it's re-sale value was negligible, at least you got
some bucks for it.
Going PC/Windows:
Better performance, more oomph.
Better and vast amount of software available.
Better everything in fact.............

Thanks decoder,

I guess I am feeling mad that I purchased it in the first place.
A month after I purchased it, apple announced the MacIntel deal.
That ticked me off..

Your right about getting rid of it before it was worth very little.

I needed some encouragement regarding my decision.

On Wednesday 15 March 2006 11:32 am, Frank had this to say in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general:

Do be sure to visit again ... say in 6 months time and let us know how you
feel about your decision. Then you can report how XP crashed, got infected
with viruses and got the notorious bit rot, so common to Windoze computers.
You'll also be able to tell us the fun you've been having reinstalling the
o/s and wiping out everything because Windoze "broke" and couldn't be
fixed. And don't forget to keep 'dem anti-virus databases updated, along
with the ones for adware and spyware. You can also report on how much money
you had to spend on third-party software in an attempt to keep that Windoze
box running and to approach anything near the useability of the MAC.

From a Wintard helping another Wintard with his Windoze Problem:
"You might also want to try one of the numerous EXCELLENT
registry cleaners, and perhaps a ram washer."
