- Differences between Kingwin KF-83 and KF-813 Mobile Racks

Anyone know the differences between the Kingwin KF-83 and KF-813
Mobile Racks (SATA)?
Our company has been using Lian Li RH-58 Mobile Racks (IDE) for
years.
Now we are moving to SATA HDDs. Lian Li makes great cases but has
let their mobile rack market slide.
I will probably buy one of each, KF-83 and KF-813, and make a
decision.

I suspect that their descriptions on the website got screwed
up and that the '83 has just a rear fan, and the '813 has
one fan in the rear and two in the front. If you call them,
please post here what you find out.

Well, I have them both coming in this Thursday.
I can tell this much right now. The photos of the KF-813 on
the kingwin.com site do not match the same product photos
on newegg.com and others. Kingwin seems to want to fib about
the ventilation in the rear of the KF-813 tray; there is none
according to the newegg.com photos. Also the fans of the KF-813
are not shown by anybody's photos.
I notice that sites are not carrying the KF-83/82/81 Series
and the KF-813/812/811 Series seem to be a replacement.
Anyway, I will know more on Thursday evening.

Notify Kingwin. From my experience, almost no one - I
mean like one in 1,000,000 - will actually call a manufacturer
about to *offer* information. They probably don't know
about discrepancies in their website's photos. Some
secretary or marketing type probably glanced at the images
and signed off on them without realizing the fan inconsistencies.
It has also been my impression that Kingwin doesn't actually
design or manufacturer their products - they select and order
what is made by Chinese manufacturers. And that seems
to be the norm in the aftermarket "modding" equipment industry.

I called Kingwin today. The representative did their best to
talk around the ventilation issue using an extreme accent -- possibly
Arab.
FedEx delivered my samples to the wrong address and they do not
know where.
I reordered today.

When I called Kingwin in California last year, everyone I
spoke with had a Chinese accent. Were you calling Kingwin
Europe (in the Netherlands)?
Who was the retailer who sent it?
