- "directory not empty" missing files and they aren't hidden
- Posted by NathanColquhoun@gmail.com on May 3rd, 2006
I'm having a problem with one directory on my hard drive.
1. There is at least 500 files in there, and for some reason the
directory only shows files that starts with the letters A-C, all other
files are nowhere to be found, but if i try to copy an exact file into
the folder, that starts with a letter like let's say F, it asks me to
replace it. This is quite odd. I can't see these files at all, i even
moved out all the files i could see, and there is nothing there, and
the more files i add to it, the more it pushes out of visibility.
2. After i moved out everything i could see into a new folder (still
missing hundreds of files) i can't even delete the original folder, for
it is saying 'directory is not empty' so my files are obviously in
there, but they aren't hidden, and the directory says 0 bytes, but if i
try to copy a duplicate in there it asks me to replace.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Sometimes Windows is inclined to "hang on to" a file and give all

unusual)
Download a third party file manager (www.tucows.com or
www.download.com) - these programs are not "bound" by the rigid
protocols of Microsoft and will often perform functions that can't be
done through Windows Explorer or My Computer.
Once achieved, you can eityher dump the TP program or continue using
it.
