Where can I find the Version of DirectX installed on my WXPsp2 ? Can one
run DirectX on WXPsp2 like in the WIN98SE/FE ?
I located the DirectX folder in the System32 folder but no help.

Go to Start -> Run an enter dxdiag.exe in the Open box.
Click OK.
The DirectX version will be listed near the bottom of the System tab

As far as I can tell there is no such file as DirectX.exe
Did you try dxdiag.exe as suggested?
You will see the version number at the bottom of first page.

As Gord Dibben pointed out, there shouldn't be a file named directx.exe on your
computer. As a matter of fact, if you did find a file named directx.exe odds are
that it would be some sort of malware
Get back to me with answers to the following questions.
1. What happens when you try to run dxdiag.exe
2. When is Windows saying it can't find DirectX.exe? Be specific as to exactly
how you're getting this message.

It was Nepatsfan who first suggested to run dxdiag.
But good to hear you're sorted.
