- Disable Internet Access for some sessions (XP Home)
- Posted by H2Fooko on November 24th, 2005
I've got XP Home edition SP2.
I've created 4 sessions for each person of my family.
I would like to disable Internet access for my young kids (cliking
everywhere) in their own session, and of course keeping this access for the
parent's session.
I haven't seen any 'content advisior' in XP Home Edition. (I've seen it at
work where we use XP pro). This was my first idea.
The second idea was to not launch the process or service leading to the
internet access. But I don't know which name or where to find it ?
Thanks in advance.

Get XP Pro and use its Group Policy Editor that allows you to control User
accounts for your kids, or use a firewall that has an Internet lock and
password protection so that its settings can't be changed by anyone who
doesn't know the password. Zone Alarm Pro from http://www.zonelabs.com/ has
the lock and password protection.

Look at the MS Shared Computer Toolkit or MVP Doug Knox's Security
Console (both free).

Are you using a ADSL Modem/router to access Internet? If so then you
can insert time when internet is available.
You need to log to your router by typing:
http://192.168.1.1 (or whatever address you have changed to)
Enter your password and look under: SECURITY, INTERNET ACCESS CONTROL.
