- Disk cleanup won't cleanup
- Posted by charlotteb123 on October 16th, 2005
I've run the disk cleanup several times and thought it was removing files.
But I seem to be just getting more and more. Today, I ran it and clicked to
remove the files. Then I immediately ran it again to check and the exact same
number of files were listed. I've tried restarting after I run it and it
doesn't help. Any suggestions?

Yep and it is always has 32KB in it, right?
From my understanding, the WebClient/Publisher files are a necessary
component of the Network capability of Windows XP and are normal cache
on XP SP2. They are archive files. WebClient/Publisher Temporary
Files are somewhere in %homepath%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5 and that what you are seeing is the size of the
index.dat file located in the Content.IE5 folder.
What will be deleted is any contents (Archive Files) associated with
that 32KB Index file but the 32KB index file is protected and will
always remain.

Ed
