using xp sp1 with all fixes

some time ago I had a clock utility which displayed both the date and
time in the system tray unobtrusively

is there any way I can do this in xp?
I've trawled the downloadable utilities with no success so far

If some kind soul..............

It should be on already. It's the default.

Right click in the icon tray and play with the settings.

Good luck!

That is my preferred clock tool for Win2k and lower. The only problem is
that Dale did/does not have access to XP and so it does not pick up the XP
theme, looking a bit, well, goofy in the system tray.

Other than this cosmetic issue, it does work well.

If you make the task bar two rows high, which can be convenient if you
routinely have many applications or documents open, XP will show both the
time and the date automatically.

my task bar is 2 rows high and I can't see a calendar
also, contrary to what an earlier poster said, in my version of xp
pro, there's no facility to introduce date to the time display, after
right clicking etc

however, I'll give those two utilities a go and post back

thanks for the responses

My apologies, you are correct. You can see the date, but not a calendar.

If you are logged on under an Admin account and double click on the clock,
the Date and Time properties window will open. This window includes a
calendar, normally used for setting the current date, but could also be
used to simply look at a calendar.

Because of the display issues with TClockEX, I use Free-Cal 1.3 from Blue
Onion Software. I put a short cut in my quick launch area and it is almost
as convenient as TClockEX--and looks just about the same.

Sorry for the initial confusion,
