Display Drivers

readers digest version - bought a nvdia card - had video on mb prior to that
- couldn't install card - checked and had no display drivers in device
manager - local tech guys couldn't figure it out - microsoft same - nvdia
same - reinstalled wxp on second hard drive - video card works, display
drivers present, all good, but . . . now have two wxp installs on pc - have
to choose which to use - original install on c drive has been reverted back
to pre-sp2 status from prior attempt to fix video problem - have to use new
install on d drive, which like I said works pretty good (also have e drive,
second partition of c (80 gb) hd, with most programs installed on it -
questions - best way to get wxp on d to c drive and eliminate choice at
bootup? have tried file transfer, didn't help, copy does not work, had ghost
9.0, it failed to make transfer and was glitchy now uninstalled. I fear boot
files on c will be corrupted if I transfer from d myself/without tech doing
the work. will this be to difficult for a novice like me, or is there good
software out there that I can use to do this?

If you managed to do a clean install on D and it works, then I would
say you should repeat the process on C. There is nothing actualy
stopping you from using the D version as your permanent system, and it
is not difficult to eliminate the choice OS menu when booting, but I
would not like my system that way. For one thing, there is the
occasional product that assumes it is being installed on C, and then
you have problems.

It is not possible simply to copy the D system to C because there are
now Registry references to D:\..., and these will be incorrect after a
copy. Again, I'd just do everything clean on C.

ROFL! I would have though a post with the subject of "Display Drivers,"
had at least something to do with display drivers.

True, not the best choice for a title. But, as you said, you hadn't
bothered to read the post. If you had, you'd see that the OP's original
problem started with video drivers.

And if someone makes their post hard to read, then they are clearly
demonstrating that they really don't what to help themselves.

FYI: In a newsgroup intended to be used for tech support issues such as
this one giving abbreviated desription of _anything_ is self defeating
and useless. In technology the devil is indeed in the details.

I realize that your statement can be general, rather than pertaining to
this particular post. However, although I can agree that the style of
the post is a bit difficult to read because it consists of the type of
info that would usually occur as a list, yet it is not in a list form,
I would maintain that the post contains more detail than many other
posts provide initially.

Much ado about nothing.

Detail, that one has to work at reading, isn't is best way of begging
for help. In this case, all it got the OP was one response that had
anything to do with his query.

When someone is begging for help, then they should try to help
themselves, by making it as readable as possible. Many people would
have just given up with reading his post then moved on to the next. I
had the decency to tell him why he was helping himself out, and I didn't
make fun of him for it either, which I certainly could have.

> Much ado about nothing.

Nothing to me certainly, as I wasn't begging for an answer, but the OP
was.
