- Display Problem
- Posted by Bob Stringer on October 16th, 2005
I don't know if this is the right news group on which to ask
this question. If not, I'd appreciate suggestions as to
where I can ask.
I have WinXP SP2.
I'm having a display/color problem with most animated files,
but not with any still files. Animated files with the
following extensions are faded and yellowish: asf, avi,
mpeg, mpg, wmv, and rm. However, mov and gif files are ok.
This is the case whether I use Windows Media Player or Media
Player Classic. All stills (at least the ones I have -- bmp,
gif and jpeg) are ok.
Any idea what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Thanks.

You might reinstall the video drivers, or install an updated version from
the chip or card manufacturer's WEBsite. If results are poor, ROLL-BACK to
the earlier drivers. This once solved a problem here of off-colors in movie
files.

Well, the first step is usually to check with your video card makers
website and download and install the latest drivers for your card.

Odd. I had the most up-to-date driver, but reinstalling it
did the trick.
Thanks for the advice.

As I just mentioned to dev, my driver was up-to-date.
However, reinstalling it just now fixed the problem.
I have to remember that.
Thanks for the advice.
