- dll's in system32 with (2) or (3)
- Posted by Tom Allen on January 30th, 2006
Question....
When I originally installed xp pro on my comp I used system restore
once prior to SP2 and I remember it saying afterwards that it had
renamed a bunch of dll's in system32.
The file names all ended up being "a_dll_name(2).dll" or (3)
Since then I have installed SP2 and I noticed that all the renamed files
are all old dates, versions, etc.
Can I delete these?
Anyone know how to pull a list of loaded dll's easily?

most of the time yes however just to be sure copy to a new folder if after a
week or two your OS still works as it did before you moved you old files you
then can safely delete them
